Poetry Corner: Illuminations

Poetry Corner: Illuminations

Twinkling in the night, once so shiny, once so bright
Once so magical, faded, perhaps it’s me that’s jaded

The promenade in a funk, happy people, clearly drunk
No one staying very long, like me, they do not belong

My old home town is dying, the future its own sting
I left and built a better life, away from sand sea and strife
