Poetry Corner: You Stayed

The good advice told you to leave and walk away.
You stayed.

Friends went, others thinly disguised their disdain,
You stayed.

You were judged and the storms hit.
You stayed.

Lost your job, the times were hard,
You stayed.

You saw the scars, and I cried at night,
You stayed.

Fragile pieces of me became exposed,
You stayed,

Even when this heart rested for a beat,
You stayed,

Through hurt so real it bloodied you,
You stayed,

Cold, shivering, clammy and weak,
You stayed

The long road back you walk with me,
Everyone can see you stayed.
