Dear Diary: Changes

It is obvious that I have been changing things around the blog, in deference to Mr Dylan the times are indeed “a changin”. However, and I do love a good subclause, changes recently have not been only of the blogging kind, although, that, for now, would be excitement enough. Well, perhaps that, and a new, to me, refurbished, laptop, which I must say makes me feel amazingly swanky, for no explainable reason whatsoever.

It is not Bob who really inspires my thoughts in this season. I am going to skip over my 8-day admission to hospital because in real terms I have no idea why the lights went out and neither has anyone else but for 48 hours no one was really home, and whoever was in my house had a very different personality to me quite a few times. After that my balance which had been deteriorating prior to the collapse gradually began to recover, as did I. The neurologists refused to see me because the scan said it was not a stroke, and I came home. The ward was lovely this time and my care great. No, follow up, no urgency, in essence, while my in house care was delightfully different, the outcome is the usual nothing but left to rot with no action outcome I usually get.

That is the past, I am genuinely, more interested and focussed on what I can do and accomplish than what does “disable” me, and lyrically, it is David Bowie’s Changes that is more of a soundtrack to my thoughts than the blues roots of an acoustic Dylan.

Still don't know what I was waitin' for
And my time was runnin' wild
A million dead end streets and
Every time I thought I'd got it made
It seemed the taste was not so sweet
So I turned myself to face me
But I've never caught a glimpse
How the others must see the faker
I'm much too fast to take that test
Turn and face the strange
Don't want to be a richer man
Turn and face the strange
There's gonna have to be a different man
Time may change me
But I can't trace time
Mmm, yeah
I watch the ripples change their size
But never leave the stream
Of warm impermanence
And so the days float through my eyes
But still the days seem the same
And these children that you spit on
As they try to change their worlds
Are immune to your consultations
They're quite aware of what they're goin' through

Of course, Changes is released in 1971, Times are a Changin in 1964, Bowie is the voice and soundtrack or backdrop to a generation later than Dylan, and yet while the 19 has given way to 20, changing times is still very much the prevailing concern of every generation, perhaps more than we know and at a speed that is both slower and faster than we can endure.

I am not global movements, I am blessed to be much more glacial in many ways, the tiki bar of changes, who knows, but I too, wanted to make changes to this blog, its content, its focus, its presentation, and the backroom of creativity that goes into that. My life is different, and I have made choices, as with all choice some you can change and some you have to see through, some you can refine improve and some you want to grow and bring to their fullest fruition, I am no different in that, and so from the life/blog interaction creativity perspective I am excited to be engaging in the continued Mouse project which I have loved so far.

The Mouse and I have discussed where we want to go creatively and definitely have a vision which excites us and have off-screen projects which never would have existed without this blog which a tremendously amazing thing to be happening and ridiculously exciting, energising as well as time-consuming and exhausting. There is a bunch of on-screen things we want to be doing and a wealth of future inclusion and possibilities, which while they stay as potentials or talks or we “we must get together” type conversations stay not secret, but I would prefer to say, unrevealed just because they are not a thing yet.

2019 is a year where work has already been done and is being done to take the Mouse forward to widen out the reach of the Squeeek and take Mr Mouse out of the Mousehole creatively, and use the tools available to maximise that creative and use the creative spaces available to Mr Mouse to bring the Mouse blog to where I and Mr Mouse are really buzzing about it a creative vehicle like we have been in are discussions and that Mr Mouse Squeeks at the Top of his Voice as part of a wider creative endeavour that is liberating, and exciting, daring even, and not as things were becoming which was more of a burdensome creativity on demand mindset.

There have been others in the discussions, and a whole bunch of online material consumed in probably will be, books read, software downloaded, stormsbrained, and thanks to every barista as well as any random person who gave an opinion when asked, but one source I/We really recommend diving deeply into is Gary Vaynerchuk, or Gary Vee to everyone.

There is no vision here to be a multillion dollar brand of internet influencers here, no business or social media model, where Gary, really reinforced us creatively was to take our focus back to creativity and art. We/I love being an artist and playing forms and textures within the written word and other mediums and to get back to that experimental mindset that was about experimenting just to experiment and explore the effect and interplay of the materials, sounds, colours, words, whatever together to see what would hang out and be cool.

So big up thanks to Gary
